Help us End Diaper Need!

Ending diaper need is a community effort, and we need your support! Every diaper, every dollar, every volunteer hour matters as we work to ensure that every child in our community has enough diapers.

Volunteering for St. Luke’s Diaper Bank

St. Luke’s Diaper Bank relies heavily on the time and treasure of our volunteers. Our part-time staff can only accomplish so much within our allotted hours, and we are so grateful for the dedication of our volunteers. Individuals and groups are all welcome to participate in any of our open distribution or repackaging events. Simply follow the link below and complete a request form. Our volunteer manager will connect you with our current opportunities. Corporate groups or groups interested in a private session are invited to complete the request form at the link below and our volunteer manager will connect with you to confirm the details of your request.

What Can I Do as a Volunteer?

  Unloading

St. Luke’s Diaper Bank is blessed with the ability to purchase pallets of diapers at a discounted rate from our local Sam’s Club.

Unloading a truck of diapers is hard work, but many hands can make it short work. Volunteers can expect to lift and carry 10-20lbs repeatedly as they bring boxes of diapers from our truck or van down a short flight of stairs to their home in our basement warehouse.

Truck unloading is ideal for groups who are interested in teambuilding exercises and fulfilling corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Repackaging

When we order from Sam’s our diapers do not come pre-packaged into bags of 50, so we handle that in-house by counting, bagging and labeling diapers for distribution. This is known as Repackaging.

Open repackaging events are open to the public, and are generally two hours in length. Open events are subject to diaper availability and could also include special projects such as basement organization, packing for a distribution or repackaging donations from the community. Private repackaging events are ideal for groups who are interested in teambuilding exercises and fulfilling corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Distribution

Our weekly distributions provide over 8,000 diapers to local caregivers. Volunteers will experience a high energy, fast-paced, collaborative environment, and will be expected to take on different roles throughout the day. Volunteers will greet and survey diaper recipients, hand out diapers, answer questions relating to diaper distributions and assist in any set-up or tear-down.

Distributions are a great way for volunteers to engage with the communities we serve and see our impact first-hand.

Data Entry

The data we collect from our community is essential to our grant reporting and funding. But it’s a lot of information and we need your help. Volunteers interested in our data entry opportunity will enter lines of hand-written survey information into an online form. Volunteers will collect physical survey forms and survey links from diaper bank staff at our St. Luke’s location. The entry of data can be done where the volunteer is most comfortable and in their own time. Completed sheets should be returned to St. Luke’s. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are unable to attend our open repackaging sessions.
