Dear Members of the St. Luke’s Diaper Bank Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to announce my transition from my position as the Executive Director of St. Luke’s Diaper Bank (SLDB). It has been a tremendous honor to serve the organization for the past year and a half, and I feel incredibly fortunate.

When I first came on board as a brand new Executive Director in 2019, I was excited and fearful at the same time. Though I had nonprofit experience, the director role was new to me. At every turn, I worried if I was making the right decision as I worked to maintain and grow the organization. At the time, SLDB was distributing diapers on a regular basis, yet many people in the community were not aware of the services we offered. I devoted my time to building a new website (with the support of Code for Good), enhancing our social media presence, collaborating directly with families, and developing marketing materials that would reintroduce SLDB to our community.

Today, I am most proud of our presence in the community, and the new families we have been able to help because of it. My hope for the organization is that as we continue to grow, we always remember what it was like to be a small, all-hands-on-deck-organization. That we stick to our values and help as many families as we can, no matter what.

I have no doubt that I am leaving the organization in capable hands, because I could not have led the growth of the organization without the support of volunteers, staff, and the Board. Since 2019, SLDB has grown significantly. We have gone from biweekly distributions at one site to weekly distributions spanning two sites. We have engaged with new volunteers, partners, sponsors, and funders. And this year, we are on target to distribute more diapers than ever before!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as director of this awe-inspiring organization. I am so proud of the work we have done together, and I look forward to a promising future.

Sincerely,

Kai Harris
Executive Director
